Through our Professional Internship Program, established in collaboration with incubator13 and the Youth Services Bureau (YSB), we offer valuable work experience opportunities to young individuals confronting employment challenges. This three-month, paid internship initiative is designed to assist individuals aged 18 to 29 in enhancing their professional and entrepreneurial competencies.
Intern Spring 2020
Amanda Mendes Fernandes
Social Harvest allowed me to improve a plethora of professional skills, including urban agriculture, greenhouse maintenance, community engagement, customer service, and entrepreneurship. As a result of this experience, I’ve become a more confident and competitive professional in horticulture. I was also fortunate to be in an environment connected with many different fields. Our contact with colleagues at the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre, as well as the business development aspect of the social enterprise, brought new thought patterns to my attention.
I will always be grateful and appreciative of the support and guidance I received from my supervisor and co-workers. It was an honour to be part of a project that has such a beautiful mission supporting other social service activities. Now, I am excited to pursue my career as a Horticulture Technician with a local company.
