Jessica Souto

Project Officer 

Jessica started working at Social Harvest as an intern in February 2020. An Urban Agriculturalist with over 5 years of experience in research and management, she is now, leading the operations and management of this social enterprise. Jessica believes in helping individuals and communities access nutritious and fresh foods not only because it is a right but also because it is delicious. She focuses on implementing actions for better urban planning and market-community-oriented measures that bring solutions to the improvement of food safety and food security.  Working at Social Harvest is providing her with the opportunity to merge her passions for fresh and local food with business outreach.

Jessica has an undergrad degree in International Logistics in which she targeted export solutions for native fruits in Brazil. While completing her master’s in Agribusiness, Jessica developed an evolutionary framework of urban and peri-urban agriculture across the globe. She also has international experience having lived in France and the US and working in countries belonging to the Southern Cone. Outside of work, Jessica loves cooking and sharing food with family and friends.

Marie-Ève Sabourin

Project Assistant 

Marie-Eve is an optimistic being, molded by a background in Environmental Studies at Carleton University with deep growing roots in our food system.  Through experiences working on various farms across North and South America, she has cultivated a great passion and admiration for the growing world where she strongly wishes to contribute to a cyclical system of growth-community reach-back to the soil. Matched as well with a passionate drive to hold and foster space for strong resilient communities. Contributing to Social Harvest as the Education and Engagement Intern, she is  looking forward to making and expanding connections with food and empowering the community that surrounds it.  Outside of work you can find her on her bicycle enjoying all that nature has to offer.

Adriana Mallya

Admin & Communications Intern

Adriana graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies.

She has special interests in digital media management and community outreach, as well as a passion for graphic design.

Some of her personal hobbies include knitting, playing piano and listening to music. Adriana is looking forward to beginning her journey with Social Harvest at the RRCRC. She hopes to sharpen her skills, gain experience and grow her professional network.
